Is the unexamined life worth living?

Socrates posed this question of his society in ancient times. Is self-reflection really the key to happiness? One must question whether or not their actions in life are really the right one, and perhaps this form of self-examination leads to a life worth living... Or perhaps not?

All thought and no action makes for a pretty cerebral existence, and how efficacious is that?

All thought and no action makes for a pretty cerebral existence, and how efficacious is that? But all action with no thought leaves one to be manipulated by one's environment and social network. How constructive is that?

As a famed Greek theologian once wrote:

Everything is permissible, but not everything is useful.
- 1Cor 6.12

Thought gives structure to the emotions which in turn fuels action. Therefore the question may be re-framed:
Is emotion without thought worth feeling?
